FROM COMMANDERY No. 2
Leadership is Humanship
Sir Knights, sometimes the leadership spirit within us may present an opportunity to contemplate the question “What is Leadership?”
It seems the definition of leadership is subjective, vague, and broad in nature. Many types of leadership styles, approaches, strategies, principles, values, influential techniques, and points of view fluctuate throughout the day or display themselves at unexpected moments.
Is Leadership temporary, or does it demonstrate itself on a continuous spectrum through your journey in life? Does leadership depend on your mood? Is someone innately born with leadership, or is leadership socially conditioned, created, and developed, and does it evolve and get molded in a person’s life?
A moment to self-reflect that to be human is to naturally have leadership, in which, we are born to be developing leaders since birth. Since leadership is the art and skill of developing relations with others, this would relate to the thought that building and re-building relationships demonstrates the foundation of what it means to be human.
If we simply practice being human and treat each other with Respect, Civility, and Good Conscience, this understanding of mastering Humanship becomes the foundation of mastering Leadership.
This notion confirms that all human beings are developing and growing leaders, intending to establish relationships with one another, giving rise to the principle that Relationship is Leadership and that Leadership is Humanship.
Sir Knights, it is my hope that as we continue to develop ourselves and seek to master the art of being human on every occasion to the best of our human abilities, this will help develop our relationships with each other and with those we meet during our daily travels.

FROM COUNCIL No. 1

Companions,
From the Council, I wish each and every one of you a joyous spring. I found the quote above fitting for me, and perhaps you can relate to it, too.
Some things are simply out of our control in life. We may try everything under the sun to stop something. However, the ball may be out of our court, and the inevitable may happen.
Interpret that as you will.
May we all take Pablo Neruda’s advice and know that some things are going to be out of our control. From our daily lives or even to some more significant changes abroad, you are the master of your own destiny however, there will always be some things that we cannot change: The weather is one of them.
The positive aspect of this is the symbolic changes that spring brings. As a time of renewal and cleansing, I ask you to take a moment in your busy life to reflect on something you can work on this season and cleanse with.
Take a walk, meditate, practice yoga; there are many ways that we can cleanse and renew ourselves symbolically. With that, my companions, I look forward to seeing you at the next Convocation on May 10, 2025.
Fraternally,
Andrew P. Grajeda
Illustrious Master
P.S. Do you have a fellow Companion who has gone through the Royal Arch and is ready to take the next step in Masonry? Be sure to sign them up for the Cryptic Degree Festival in Auburn, CA, on April 26, 2025!

FROM CHAPTER No. 3
Greetings, Companions.
Spring is upon us, and all is starting to dry out. Soon, those drives to York Rite on the second Saturdays will be beautiful Spring mornings. Hope to see more Companions in attendance soon.
This Year’s Sessions will be in San Ramon from May 15th through the 19th. You don’t need to be an Officer to attend. If you get a chance to go, it will be a great experience, if only for one day. If interested, contact me, and I will get you the date that Grand Chapter meets.
We should all congratulate those who attended and thank those who performed in the “Most Excellent Master” and ”Royal Arch Mason” Degrees in Woodland on March 22nd.
All “Royal Arch Mason” Degrees will, again, be conferred on September 20th in Alameda.
I am sure we all are aware that Sacramento York Rite is in desperate need of fresh sources of income. The Committee is now planning the “First Annual Sacramento York Rite Pasta Feed and Silent Auction”. The Banquet Room has been reserved for this event on October 10th.
What we need from each of you is:
-
Inform your Blue Lodges. My Lodge has a York Rite Ambassadors Report on its agenda for each Stated Meeting. Mention it at each meeting to make it familiar with them. “What A Deal – All You Can Eat Pasta, Salad, and Garlic Bread for only $15”.
-
Think about what you can donate to the silent auction, this is where the money is made.
We can make this event a great success if we all work together.
Hope to see you all on the second Saturdays of the month.
Dave Cobb
High Priest
