FROM COMMANDERY No. 2
Sir Knights,
I would like to take a moment to thank each and every Sir Knight who made the Conferral of Chivalric Orders possible in June.
These are some of my favorite Masonic Ceremonies, and I wish I could have been there. Thank you for taking the time to make the Ritual come alive for the Candidates.
For our newest Sir Knights, welcome to Sacramento Commandery No. 2. The Commandery is an order rich in history that I am sure you will each cherish in your own way. Additionally, you do not need to have a uniform to attend a meeting. All Sir Knights are welcome. If you are interested in becoming an Officer next year, I advise you only to purchase the jacket.
You can find them at
I would not recommend initially buying a chapeau or sword. The reason for this is that once you are the Eminent Commander, the color of the chapeau and sword change from silver to gold.
The Commandery can loan you a sword and chapeau for the time being. If you have any questions whatsoever, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.
With August being dark for the Commandery, this gives the officers time to study as we will be in advanced positions come September.
Stay cool in these warm summer months.
Fraternal Regards,
Andrew Grajeda
Commander
FROM COUNCIL No. 1
Hi All:
I just spent a week in Phoenix in July. Every day, the temperature hovered between 113 and 120. When I got back home, I actually felt a cool down.
I guess there is truth to the saying, “It could be worse.” In this case, “We could be in Phoenix.”
And that other phrase, “At least it is a dry heat,” means that your lips get so dry they crack, and your skin starts to turn to leather.
Now, to some serious stuff.
To get the Sacramento York Rite to grow and become more prosperous, we are going to have to support and work at it more; to come up with new ideas and put them to use.
I know of a way that I’ve seen work: Get your Ladies more involved. Get them to attend more events, for example, our Breakfasts, for a start. Get the Ladies to meet, and they will form their own bonds.
We need to make them feel they are an important part of the Fraternity; fundraisers, such as the Rivercats program, are another way to get the Ladies involved and show that they are needed.
We all want to see our beloved Rite survive and prosper, if you have any Ideas, thoughts, or concerns, please let them be known.
Sincerely,
Dave Cobb
Illustrious Master

FROM CHAPTER No. 3
Greetings Companions,
I hope that all of you are staying cool with the recent seasonably hot weather we’ve been experiencing.
Our Lady’s Night, which was scheduled to take place on August 10th, has been canceled. This is because no RSVPs were received. Maybe in the future, someone will try to organize such an event.
On July 13th, I attended the 3-Way Reception at Hiram Masonic Lodge in Eldorado, sponsored by the Sacramento - Sierra York Rite Association.
On behalf of our Chapter, I presented Most Excellent David Sokol, Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons, with an Honorary Lifetime Membership Certificate as well as a donation to him and 1st Lady Sandy for their projects.
ME David gave a very interesting talk about Royal Arch Masonry in the Gold Country and some of its history that was enjoyed by all who attended.
At our last Stated Convocation, EC Joseph Dongo took the time to provide some teaching and explanation of our Ritual during the opening. I found it to be very informative and helpful.
Many thanks to EC Joseph for doing this for our Chapter!!
There has been some recent discussion of forming a group to make phone calls to our Companions and invite them to our upcoming Stated Convocations.
Sometimes, all it takes is a personal phone call to spark interest in returning to York Rite Masonry. If you are interested in helping out with this task, please contact EC Joseph Dongo.
Our next regularly scheduled Stated Convocation is on August 10th at 9:00 AM.
Please make every effort to attend and support the officers who have made the commitment to serve. In the words of Sam Jaber, “You’ll be glad you did.”
Fraternally,
Eric Johnson
High Priest
