September 2020

FROM COMMANDERY No. 2

Sir Knights,

It has been a long time. It was good to see you on Saturday. If you had not paid your dues please do so today.

As a result of discussions at the Stated Conclave of September 12th, 2020, a motion on separating dues from per capita passed unopposed.

In addition, a motion was made and tabled to raise the dues $5.00 to replenish the continuously depleting funds.

To that effect, an amendment to the Sacramento Commandery No. 2’s By-laws will be presented in October. Please join us next month on Zoom.

Until then, Sir Knights, may you and your families be safe and take care.
Harvey J Holcomb, Commander

FROM COUNCIL No. 1

Companions,

We are living in interesting times.  It has been five months since we came together in person to relish in Friendship and Brotherly Love.   We may still be physically absent from one another, but we are still united and strong, although in a rather informal format, via electronic medium.

It is good to hear and see one another through these means but I look forward to the future when we can once again be among Brothers in person, in peace, and in harmony. Until that time arrives, be cautious, stay healthy, and do not hesitate to reach out to a Companion. We are here for you.

Sincerely,

Joseph Wallach
Illustrious Master

FROM CHAPTER No. 3

Companions,

Are you ready for 2020 to go away?

Well, welcome to the BER months!

In some traditions around the world, especially those in the Philippines, September 1st is marked as the beginning of the countdown to Christmas and the year-end.

For Brazilians, the BER months (September, October, November, and December) bring up the most nostalgic time of the year. As we quickly approach the time to say goodbye to another year -we tend to revisit those lists of goals probably never completed.

Did I lose weight? Did I read at least one book a month? Have I improved myself in Masonry?

Whatever your answers might be, this is the time to rebuild our hopes for a better future and give yourself reasons to move forward.

Carpe diem!

Fraternally,

Francisco Marques

High Priest

From the Secretary/Recorder Desk

Have you paid your 2020 dues?

The year is winding down and funds are tight in all three Bodies.

If your dues cards do NOT read "member in good standing ... through December 31, 2020", then you have fallen behind and now would be a good time to catch up.

Please contact your Secretary/Recorder at Joe@JosephDongo.com or issue your dues payment at https://www.sacramentoyorkrite.org/dues

Sincerely and fraternally,

Sir Knight Joseph K. Dongo, KYCH

Book of the Month

York Rite Freemason's Handbook
by James F. Hatcher III

This book offers a simplified overview of the York Rite of Freemasonry and is a personal record book for members.

Whether it is a given as a gift for the new initiate or purchased as a working tool for those members working in the degree presentations, this handbook offers members a permanent record of their work in the various bodies.

It includes sections for recording offices held, special appointments, degree work, charity operations, and training and instructional conferences, as well as service in other bodies of Masonry outside of the York Rite.

Understanding the work for a particular degree can be accomplished in days, weeks, months or years.

This book allows the member to keep notes and jot down personal reflections on the various degrees, continually adding new understandings about the work, and developing a foundation for expressing and providing new ideas for the members from the teachings.

It is compatible for use in all American York Rite Bodies, from the Symbolic Lodges to the regular Concordant Bodies to the Invitational Bodies.
